op2I’ve never had great luck with pancakes. They were either not fluffy enough, more done on one side, or just devoid of flavor. This time, however, I have ended that bad streak of luck with this recipe. It hails from the visually amazing and always appetizing blog, Daisy’s World. These flavor pancakes were a great weekend brunch item full of fruity pizzazz and a memorable note to wrap up summer.

op5I followed the recipe exactly and had no problems with the batter whatsoever. The orange zest and fresh juice squeezed provided happy notes dancing off my tongue to urge me back for seconds!

I did have poor luck on the first round of making the syrup, but it was purely user error. I had the bright idea to leave that to simmer while I get my laundry together, vacuum around the house, ladada. So, one burned batch down, I dumped another load in the saucepan and it transitioned into a bubbling, warm berry ooze moments later. Ten minutes in fact, so use your best judgement and be attentive with it.

op1I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top that was the grand finale for this already handsome plate of pancakes. These flavors worked really well together and was a refreshing change from the usual plain buttermilk. You will be wiping up the last globs of blackberry syrup up that will leave all guests with a smile!
